Using Prayerbook Hebrew for Adults by Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin, this class will help you decode and recite the Shabbat prayers and blessings for home observance; understand the themes of the prayers; learn simple Hebrew grammar and recognize key words; and actively participate in prayer services. This class presumes a knowledge of the Hebrew alefbet and a moderate ability to decode prayerbook Hebrew. The class is free for members and 3 x Chai ($54) for nonmembers. - Adult Hebrew Alefbet (Alphabet), Wednesdays 6:35-7:30 p.m, taught by CABI member James Auw. Using Zman Likro (Time to Read) Vol. 1 & 2 by Lenchner, Zana, & Maiben, this class will introduce you to the Hebrew alphabet and get you started decoding words and eventually blessings. The class presumes no previous knowledge of Hebrew. If you practice regularly, you can be ready for Prayerbook Hebrew by the end of the year.
